Membership on the Easthampton Cultural Council

Do you value the arts, history and creative life in our city?  As an unpaid board member of the Easthampton Cultural Council (ECC) you will be part of an active board of nine who support artists, musicians, dancers, theater groups, historians, educators, naturalists and others seeking funding for cultural events and programs. The ECC, a board of the City of Easthampton is funded through the Massachusetts Cultural Council.  We administer the state's Local Cultural Council (LCC) program grant funds to Easthampton and publicize our free public programming to make it as accessible as possible to the residents of Easthampton.

Volunteers are appointed by the Mayor to a three-year term and are required to attend monthly meetings throughout the year and serve as a contact for programs funded by the ECC. Meetings are currently scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month and it is important that you be able to attend on a regular basis. ECC welcomes people with energy and creativity; artistic talent or experience is not a prerequisite.  It's a highly gratifying and creative volunteer opportunity.  ECC shares board members with Easthampton City Arts (ECA) to create a more synergistic arts community in Easthampton. ECC invites you to attend a monthly meeting to learn more.

To apply, first attend a few cultural council meetings, then send a letter requesting appointment to the Easthampton Cultural Council to the Mayor of Easthampton.  Your letter should describe your interest and qualifications. ECC members are happy to provide more information and answer any questions you may have - please contact the Council by mail or email.
